Verified ReviewerPoor customer service
I purchased a heavy-duty 'quick ship' 700R4. It took almost two months to get the transmission.
Initially, I planned to install it myself, but after seeing some poor reviews regarding Monster Transmission, I decided to have a certified shop do the work. The transmission started leaking as soon as the oil was put into it. It began what I would call soft shifting, which it should not have done with a firm shift kit in it. As it turned out, it jumped from 1st gear to third gear.
The engine in my truck boasts around 440 horsepower, so it didn't lug down or lose a bunch of power, and I thought it was just built incorrectly. First, the shop that installed the transmission tried to contact the Monster Transmission warranty department, but they didn't answer the phone. Then, I repeatedly tried to contact the warranty department, and they didn't answer the phone either. I contacted the sales department - they do answer that phone - and complained to them.
They provided me with a warranty number. Subsequently, the warranty department put me through the wringer with photos that needed to be taken. I got a second opinion from another transmission-only shop. It turns out the transmission was lacking 2nd or 4th gear.
Hence the 'soft shifting.' The second shop's opinion was that the transmission needed to be rebuilt. Never purchase anything from these folks.
- Everything bad from start to now

Verified ReviewerSent wrong trans for vehicle VIN and specs. Blew up after 1 week. MT refused to address. Unit was not even rebuilt. Internals trashed.
The unit was not rebuilt. There were incorrect internals for my VIN and specs.
MT asks customers to pay for a new TC, fluid, and all labor and shipping. It blew up after 1 week. The original trans and TC lasted over 350,000 miles.
A local shop displayed the damaged internals and conducted a full rebuild with removal and installation, plus a two-year warranty, for less than what MT charged for the trans alone. They are a total scam!
- No honor of failure
Preferred solution: Full refund

I paid the highest price for this Sierra 1500 transmission. The transmission operated fair when I got it.
But now it's slipping and shifting funny.
Why on Earth do these people take all your money say they treat you like family. But in reality they treat you like a trash bag.
My warning do not purchase a thing from this place.

Verified ReviewerPurchased transmitchell ball over a year ago oh, they got twenty four hundred miles out of it, and now they've lost it.
Which is my transformation in july of 2023 one of the big reasons I went with them is because I had heard they made incredible transmissions, and when speaking to the salesperson was told they're going to have my training in approximately 2 weeks.
The first training they sent out, it would not fit my car and they did not have the specs for my 2011 ctsv. And built it to the regular specs of a, cts, they admitted that they did not have that's specs, but still insisted that my mechanic put the training back.
Take the measurement, made them jump through the Ringer. Sending pictures and costing me over 1500 in mechanic fees after wasting another month. Leash, they finally agreed to take it back ken told me they were doing me a favor by not charging me shipping to do so. That was very nice of them even though they sent me the wrong translation long story short.
Over 4 months later, I received my transmission, I live in the white mountains of New Hampshire, so I could not use my car until the spring of 2024. Where I got 2400 miles out of it and the transmission blew. No idea what but I contacted them. I had to bring it back to the dealership where I had the works.
Done, and they had to now fill out a lot of documents with pictures measurements. And God knows what else they were asking for. This has cost me about another $1100. How here I am?
3 and a 1/2 months later, finally, I got in touch with someone from the warrant department again, after I paid over $500 to ship it back to them from their shipping company, and they don't know where my transmission is.
They just asked me if I shipped it back. So well, over a year ago i spent over $10000 worth of monster transmissions. Another $5000 approximately with my mechanic. Not including what they're going to charge me for storage.
And the recent work they've had to do since I'm being told they're not sure if they even received it. After I've called multiple times Customer service is horrendous. Their lack of consideration unbelievable. I would not wish they drop APS on this company if it was on fire.
I am now looking into legal option. After them, we're losing my car for free 2 years, because by the time they find it, we're gonna be a new one it will be winter again. And then we'll not be able to use this vehicle until next frame. Which was like, 2 years without my car and only being able to use it for a practical half a month outrageous.
They should be embarrassed.
How about their lack of service? And I really hope that eventually, with all these battery views, someone shut them down so they stopped ripping people off That'd rather have my money taken at gunpoint? I'm from a masked bandit, at least they did some.Type of work to earn it. If only I could give negative start, I would.
Look up all the reviews on this company. If you still purchase from them, you're an idiot.I wish I had looked up the.Reviews, instead of just listening to tv commercials.

Verified ReviewerWorst experience ever when dealing with a company!
Monster Transmission review. DONT USE THEM and heres why:
Resto Build on a 68 Mercury Cougar included a 4R70W ordered from Monster Transmission to pair with a 2017 Coyote, order #557098.
All information was provided to Monster when ordered and the cost was $3653.43.
The 1st transmission had to be returned because Monster configured it for a late-model vehicle, not built based on the information provided to them. I incurred additional labor charges and shop supplies totaling $490 and a 5-week delay in build time, they covered shipping. Monster build caused the failure.
2nd transmission order #563268, blew with less than 20 miles driven on it. The diagnosis according to them was electronics failure, burnt direct drum and clutches, and internal slipping.
They replaced the electronics, the frictions, and steels in the direct drum, and the frictions and steels inside the intermediates. They paid partial labor of $360 and shipping. My additional cost included the remaining labor, towing, and shop supplies of $270 plus a 4-week delay in the build. Monster build caused the failure.
3rd transmission order #564890 was returned because the car would not stay in gear when coming to a stop.
Their original response was that we didnt order the proper transmission to handle the horsepower output. The 2nd generation Coyote puts out 435hp and with not having a catalytic converter it could possibly put out an extra 15hp bringing it to 450hp, if lucky. The 4r70W, according to Monster Transmission, can handle up to 550hp which is why it was selected. At this point, they were reluctant to tell me why the second transmission failed.
I was constantly emailing and placing phone calls to try and get the answer and finally, their warranty dept customer service representative (another story in itself) stated that they were going to upgrade the transmission to an SS, 600hp. They covered the shipping as I was extremely disappointed in their handling, I had to pay for the labor and shop supplies of $490 and a 6-week delay in the build. They said they Dyno tested this transmission (just like all the others) upon its return and found nothing.
4th transmission order #567404. With only 55 miles on the transmission the front pump bushing seal tore and dumped fluid going down the road.
Followed the warranty procedures once again by taking pictures and providing a small description of what happened. Waited a couple of weeks without any word back, so again I had to hound them for an answer. The reply I finally received was that according to their lead technician, they wanted to ship it back again and that I was responsible for the shipping along with everything else. They continued with From the description of the issue, it sounded like the front pump seal was damaged during the installation, which would be considered an installer error.
As this was the 4th transmission and a long time span, I went to a local shop specializing in transmissions and they found that the front pump bushing had spun and walked out far enough to cut the front seal. It is possible that bushing wasnt staked completely. So why should I have to pay again? Labor, parts, towing, and shop supplies (fluids) to repair is costing me another $1600.
Ive requested to speak to management on several occasions with no response and when trying to speak with someone in the warranty dept they tell you to text or email them.
They ghost you hoping that you will go away or just continue to pay extra for their screwups. Having this many issues speaks to their incompetence in building a transmission! Their customer service (when you get to speak with someone) shows a lack of ownership and accountability in their product. Their WOWanty as they call it is a joke, they should be responsible for their mistakes to include all additional costs involved!
I even offered to bring the transmissions back to them as I only live two hours away and they refused, saying they were under construction and didnt have room.
Their pre-recorded message on the phone while you wait to talk to someone before being put through to voicemail says, We are building relationships. My question is with who, not with the car clubs or with the little guy doing their own build. This has been the worst company to work with in doing the rebuild! I understand that some things happen, but 4 builds and its still NOT CORRECT, that should be embarrassing!
So, now you have been warned before making your purchase of a new transmission.
If you use Monster Transmission you can only blame yourself!
If you want to enjoy your car, I suggest finding an alternate option as you will save money, time, and AGGRAVATION!
Total cost $6503.43 for a $3653.43 transmission without a warranty. The total of time lost is invaluable!
- Customer service nonexistent they ghost you and a product that works
Preferred solution: Apology and reimbursement

Verified ReviewerHad a great experience
We bought a 4r100 from them, plus a torque converter. Very happy.
Everything lined up perfectly and bolted right on.
It shifts as smooth as butter now! It took a little longer for the build than anticipated, however, if these results continue, I couldn't be a happier customer!
- Great service nice build
- Slower delivery than anticipated
Preferred solution: Nothing just happy with my service and it doesn't match these reviews.
User's recommendation: Defintly do it! Be prepared for a longer wait for the build and make sure you actually do a good break in like it says in the manual.

Verified ReviewerBasically took me for nearly $3000
I ordered a 4L65E trans from them. It lasted less than 2,000 miles.
It had an obvious catastrophic failure and rather than sending me a replacement, they kept asking for more information.
I am a certified master technician, so I know what I'm talking about. After nearly a month with no resolution, I ordered a replacement from a reputable builder and am now out nearly $3,000 plus labor.

Verified ReviewerIf I could give this company zero stars, I would...
If I could give this company zero stars, I would. I ordered my transmission from them a month ago.
Now I am very well aware that sometimes these products take long in assembly/testing. This is understandable and reasonable. But what has infuriated me is the fact that this company places zero emphasis on customer service. Throughout the entire process, I have had to be the one to reach out and get updates on the status of my order.
Most of the time that I tried to get on the phone with someone, no one answered. If I did manage to get on the phone with them, the people who could help me were never available. They were never able to give me a transparent status update, and they always deferred to reaching out to me by email later on which they NEVER did. Honestly their efforts have been nothing short of pathetic.
Dealing with them was such a pain in the neck that I cancelled my order with them.
It's also safe to say that getting the refund has been just as much a headache. I think I've called their status order team like thirty times, and they've only answered a handful of times.
But the richest part of it all is that if you select to speak with a rep to make a new order they answer right away. They want your money not your business.

Bought a Monster Transmission and had it shipped to a Chevrolet Dealer in Texas for installation. It finally arrived 3 days late and was told it was because they had to test it for quality!
It was pouring fluid out the rear seal and they wanted it shipped back at my expense of $300. The Dealer said $300 and they would have it fixed that day, so they fixed it and Monster won't Warrant it or refund money i had to spend fixing it!

Verified ReviewerTerrible custumer service
I bought a torque converter and flex plate for my '96 351w Bronco e4od trans. They took my money in seconds but never gave me a tracking number, despite several days of waiting.
I tried to contact them a million times, but received no answers. Finally, today I decided to cancel my order after one of their representatives was rude about my concerns regarding the lack of a tracking number.
I came here only to realize I wasn't the only one in the same situation. Just don't buy from them - save your time and money!
- Terrible custumer service
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Just Don't waste your time or money with them
Wish I had not done business with them.
Don't waste your time. When I 1st ordered a transmission, it was supposed to be ready to ship.
After 6 weeks and 1 failed build, it still had not been shipped. Now, after 20 Months, the 600Hp build fails on a 160 HP Chevy TBI engine. I'm assuming it's a hard part failure since we lost all gears and Park. I had to submit multiple pictures and forms on their no question warranty.
Which I paid additional money for. Now I can't get them to give me a date to pick up the transmission.
They claim my email response was not received, after they confirmed that they got the photos associated with it. If it is for your daily driver, have it rebuilt locally.
User's recommendation: Avoid at all costs.

The Turbo 400 transmission I installed lasted 180 miles before the gear shift froze in park. I filed a warranty claim.
The warranty department told me to take the transmission to a shop and have them figure it out. Some warranty! Any time I call, they say the warranty department is understaffed and will get back to me ASAP.
It's been nearly two months. Meanwhile, my work truck remains broken down and I am losing revenue.
Preferred solution: Full refund
